New exploration in the Canin area
We've been visiting another ice caves in the Canin area, as the C3 project is going on. We are actually searching for another suitable cave to perform new surveys and possible long monitoring program. Apparently, this nice ice deposit located at the bottom of about 25 m deep shaft, persist in what seems a static ice cave having the entrance on the east side of the Mount Bila Pec. While been reported from old inventories, we didn't notice any ice on the cave walls and even in the deepest part of the shaft the ice seems to be at the melting point.
Anyway, another example of the great potential of this area for the study of the underground cryosphere in the Alps
